In Praise of Guardian Angels

I don’t know if there are the equivalent of the Oscars in Heaven but I think that my Guardian Angel should be nominated for Best in a number of different categories. That’s a subjective opinion of course and it counts for nothing because Angels are judged by their peers whose understanding is colossal and unfathomable. If he didn’t know in advance, he must have figured out very quickly that he had been landed with a pretty clueless soul. But he did not react punitively or with authoritarian instinct. He has always displayed patience and compassion towards me. Without judgement-alism, he has watched me wander, not paying attention, wherever my feet took me and only gently steered me away from the moments of real danger. I think it is probably him who has been feeding me poems for the last x number of years and if it is not actually him, then certainly he has organised it.
